Concept cars tend to capture the hearts and minds of motorists because they’re almost always too cool to exist. When big automakers with unlimited resources fill a room with money and inventive engineers, you can be assured that the result will be something a mad scientist could create. The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, for example, is a car that’s literally too cool to exist for our clunky world. In fact, the car is so great that it can only exist in one environment. Video games.
As the name suggests, Porsche Vision Gran Turismo will feature in the upcoming seventh version of the popular video game series Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo has featured Porsches since 2017, while Porsche Vision Gran Turismo will be the German automaker’s first concept work created specifically for use in a video game. To create Vision Gran Turismo, Porsche worked with Polyphony Digital, a subsidiary of Sony, to put all their creativity into a single concept for the virtual world.
What happens when you remove all obstacles?
Unlimited by frustrating variables such as money, practicality, comfort, or safety, Porsche used this opportunity not only for some fun but also as a valuable experience to reveal its future design language. This wonderful concept demonstrates the typical proportions of Porsche, with a particularly sporty height-to-width ratio, an extremely low hood, and very pronounced wheel arches. It also features a striking interior with a curved hologram display, titanium, and carbon design accents, and vegan leather upholstered seats.
Of course, the real fun of vision comes in the (virtual) performance features. The all-electric concept has a mind-blowing 1,099 hp motor (with a maximum output of 1274 HP when overboosted), a top speed of 2.1 seconds from 0-6mph (0-100km/h), and a top speed of around 217mph (350km/h). This incredible concept will be exclusive to Gran Turismo 7, which will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 4, 2022. Click here for more detailed information.
