The long-rumored Mercedes VISION EQXX concept has finally broken the curtain on the 2022 CES show and promises a revolution for the future of electric cars. The biggest improvement is the driving range of around 621 miles (~1000km), which the EQXX has managed to achieve without adding more battery cells. Mercedes has leveraged the F1 program to create a 100 kWh battery pack that is 50 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than the one used in the EQS 450+.
This incredible range value has been achieved by combining the changes made in terms of weight reduction, including the ultra-low 0.17 coefficient of friction, composite structure, and light alloys, with technology such as battery cooling. EQXX, powered by a 201 hp engine, is actually a work focused on efficiency, not performance. The truly stylish exterior is complemented by an equally striking interior with a 47.5-inch 4K resolution touchscreen that spans the driver’s console and lacks any physical buttons.
