Having redefined the river and ocean voyages the Viking, now has his sights set on expeditions. Designed for this new concept, Octantis is a 665-foot (202-meter) reconnaissance ship designed for navigation in Antarctica with wing stabilizers and ice-strengthened Polar Class hulls. The interior design bears the mark of the brand’s distinctive Scandinavian genes and offers 189 cabins with a capacity of 378 guests. Suites range in size from 215 to 1,223-square-foot (20 to 113 square meters) and all feature ocean views, balconies, and king-size beds. The Viking Octantis also features a spa, a pool under an opening glass dome, a lounge and dining room with a variety of dining options, and an onboard science laboratory where research is conducted and equipment is stored for expeditions. The Panorama Auditorium, modeled after the University of Oslo‘s ballroom and located at the stern of the ship, is a venue for conferences and entertainment.
