Realistic haptic feedback is one of the next major areas in the constant search to make video games more immersive, and bHaptics’ newest haptic vest Tactsuit X40 is the most impressive example we’ve seen.
bHaptics Tactsuit X40 is the winner of the CES Innovation Award in 2021. It has 40 independently controllable ERM motors that provide position tactile feedback on the entire torso. The cross-platform X40 is powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which can provide up to 18 hours of playing time, and can be used with game consoles, mobile games, PCs, and VR. The vest provides Bluetooth connectivity (providing lag-free tactile feedback when applicable), while wired connections do not provide wired connections. The smaller and lighter vest X16 from bHaptics is also very new. It has 16 vibration motors, you guessed it. Both vests can be used in combination with the company’s Tactal tactile mask and Tactosy tactile arm, hand, and foot sleeves to provide a complete whole-body tactile experience, which is expected to revolutionize the way you play. The bHaptics Tactsuit X40 can now be purchased on the bHaptics website for $499.
