2022 Ducati DesertX

First introduced as a design in 2019 and unveiled in concept form in April 2020, the Ducati DesertX is the Italian brand’s first true, exclusive, hardcore, and off-road-ready all-new adventure bike model.

Designed in the Ducati Centro Stile, DesertX was visually inspired by the Ducati-backed racers who won the Dakar Rally in 90 and 94. A navigation display, a rally-style body kit, a circular side-by-side headlight array, and a tail-mounted auxiliary fuel cell are among the details that stand out at first glance.

A first in Ducati

Unlike the concept based on the 803cc Scrambler platform, the 2022 DesertX is built around an all-new cage frame housing a 110 hp 937cc Testastretta 11° Desmodromic engine similar to the one in the Multistrada V2. The new chassis is designed for off-road performance and is paired with a Kayaba suspension setup that provides long-haul, 9″ of travel at the front and 8.66″ at the rear. All-terrain 21″ front, 18″ rear wheelset is a first for Ducati.

Weighing approximately 445lbs (202kg), this new adventure bike from Ducati also features 9.84” (25cm) ground clearance, rally-style exhaust, Brembo M50 monoblock brakes, 34.44” (87.5cm) seat height, quick shifting, multiple riding modes, 5” full-color TFT display, and six-axis Bosch IMU-controlled electronics package with engine braking, slip and traction control functions. An additional 8-liter fuel cell bearing the Borgo Panigale branding and a set of aluminum hard luggage kits are also optionally available.

Although the 2022 DesertX is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in May 2022, Ducati has yet to officially reveal pricing information or detailed specs. Click here for more.
