Highland Systems, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, is a research and development and project management company dedicated to putting radical, off-the-shelf military vehicle concepts into practice. The latest product developed by Highland for the British armed forces is called the “Storm MPV”, which is a hybrid, amphibious, multi-purpose assault vehicle.
This multi-purpose armored vehicle (MPV) rides on a tank-style tread equipped with a true off-road suspension kit and is designed to stand out in a wide range of military applications in the world’s harshest environments. This land and sea assault vehicle is 7.75 feet high, 9.4 feet wide, and 19.3 feet long. It can provide six seats in an armored cabin. In addition to having the latest and most advanced ballistics, improvised explosive devices, and shocking protection features, Storm also has a series of cutting-edge integrated technologies, such as the ability to remotely (and partially autonomous) control the vehicle. Although the weight is close to 9 tons, because the diesel hybrid powertrain has 1,865 kW (or 2,500 hp) and 3,245 ft-lbs of torque, Storm MPV can provide a top speed of nearly 90mph on land, and a top speed of about 20mph on water. Hybrid propulsion system can be used for up to 36 hours, and it only takes 2.5 hours to fully charge. Click here for more details about the Highland Systems Storm MPV.
