High-speed internet access to rural and remote areas is tricky at best. SpaceX‘s satellite service Starlink is trying to change this situation. Currently, in the testing phase, it provides data speeds from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s in most locations and latency from 20ms to 40ms, and these numbers are expected to be significantly improved in the future. In order to achieve this goal, the company is deploying thousands of satellites into orbit, 60 times the distance from the earth to traditional satellites to help eliminate time lag. The starter kit includes everything needed to get up and running, including Starlink hardware, Wi-Fi router, cables, and mounting tripod, so all users need to provide is power and a clear sky.
