Last December, Swedish electric motorcycle manufacturer Cake announced its goal of producing a batch of solar-powered electric bicycles to help combat wildlife poaching in Africa. And now, after months of development and a series of strategic partnerships, the company has revealed the final result of this effort through Kalk AP.
The AP specification is the abbreviation of “Poaching Prevention”. It uses a recycled fiber-reinforced biocomposite body made of Trifilon, decorated with green and gold coatings, a mounting rod for the trunk, and a removable projector LED headlight. AP-spec uses new 18-inch rims and upgraded seals to improve durability; spring-damped front forks and progressive rear damping devices were selected to reduce maintenance requirements and improve durability. In addition, the powertrain software has been adjusted to produce more torque, and now additional driving modes can provide higher top speeds. In addition to cooperating with the Southern African Wildlife Institute, Cake’s goal 0 is also used to produce power stations and solar panels that can fully charge Kalk AP. Cake initially plans to run 50 units, and it will sell AP for $32,000, including two dirtbike motorcycles and a solar charging system, but it can also be purchased for a charity price of $25,000.
