Audi has released its latest electric mountain bike, the RS Q e-tron Dakar, inspired by its RS Q E-tron E2 electric Dakar Rally racer. Italian bike maker Fantic designed the limited-run model, built with a 250W Brose motor and Fantic’s 720Wh battery that delivers 66ft/lb of torque. The bike comes in three sizes and features four levels of electric assistance, from the Eco mode to the Boost mode. The Audi electric mountain bike uses high-end components such as Braking IN.CA.S disc brakes, an Öhlins fork and shock, and Sram components. The bike costs £8,499 in the UK, which is comparable to Porsche’s $10,700 eBike Sport, and priced higher than the $3,999 Bash/Mtn, the GMC Hummer e-bike, and the more powerful $5,499 Jeep e-bike.
The bike’s aluminum frame design has different parts than the Porsche eBike lineup beyond the motor and battery. The bike uses Italian touches like the Vittoria tires and Sella Italia saddle. The Öhlins gear offers 7.1in suspension travel versus the XMF 1.7’s 6.7in. The Fantic Integra battery pack is housed in the bike’s frame, with four modes for varying amounts of pedal assist. The Audi RS Q e-tron electric mountain bike uses a lightweight aluminum frame and front and rear suspension with seven inches of travel, giving it a robust off-road capability.
