In May 2022, DJI introduced the Mini 3 Pro model. A professional-grade drone with many impressive features for its sub-$1000 price. As the last quarter of 2022 draws to a close, the China-based tech team has now launched the DJI Mini 3, which is even more affordable, non-Pro-enabled, and retains many of the features and possibilities of its high-end predecessor.
Sold without a remote, with a regular remote, or with a DJI RC controller with a 5.5″ HD display, DJI Mini 3 is based on its Pro-specific counterpart. Although it has lost ActiveTrack and front/rear obstacle detection, the built-in camera’s 1/1.3 inch sensor, and thanks to the dual native ISO combination, it can record 4K HDR videos with true-to-life colors in both day and night conditions.
This tiny drone is DJI‘s longest-lasting drone to date, with a flight time of 38 minutes, which can be extended to 51 minutes (with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus). It also has Level 5 wind resistance capability with the ability to withstand winds of up to about 24mph (39 km/h).
Even more impressive is that the drone can transmit 720p 30fps quality video up to 6.2 miles (10 km) away. Equipped with an innovative and shielded gimbal design that allows True Vertical Shooting and QuickShots Panorama mode, DJI Mini 3 is extremely travel-friendly. This drone, which you can fold to make it more portable, weighs only 249 grams.
