DS E-Tense Performance Concept

French manufacturer DS is using its Formula E success in the E-Tense Performance concept supercar. The two-time Formula E champion DS took the electric powertrains of the single-seater race cars and transplanted them into a two-door, two-seater coupe that powered all four wheels for a total of 805 horsepower. While the vehicle offers 335 and 469 horsepower per front/rear split axle, it can produce a huge torque of 8000Nm. The vehicle’s battery is housed in a rear-mounted carbon-aluminum enclosure for optimum weight distribution. Allowing a 600kW regenerative braking figure, the battery actually eliminates the need for conventional hydraulic brakes, although they are included for safety. With Formula E champions Jean-Éric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa at the wheel, DS estimates 0-100km/h acceleration will take place in 2 seconds.

The interior of the car, decorated with black leather, is also equipped with racing seats, a Formula E steering wheel, and an ultra-premium FOCAL Utopia sound system developed specifically for this project. Riding on a 21-inch wheelset equipped with aerodynamic additional caps, E-Tense Performance also has a chameleon-style exterior paint that changes color depending on the angle it looks at and the lighting.

He states that the ultimate goal of DS in the project is to lower production and development costs to both unlock new technologies and deliver a range of electric cars that are more accessible, yet still completely high-performance and cutting-edge.
