In a bold move to shape their future workforce, Škoda, the Czech auto manufacturer, established the Škoda Vocational School. This unique initiative aims to mold a generation of students into the carmaker’s future employees. Since 2013, the school has challenged its students to design their own concept cars, showcasing their skills and creativity. The latest result of this project is the Škoda Roadiaq, an innovative student-designed concept car that combines the brand’s first-ever all-electric SUV, the Enyaq iV, with the functionalities of a battery-electric mobile-office camper.
The Roadiaq concept car is the product of the collaborative efforts of several dozen students from the Škoda Vocational School. They transformed the Enyaq iV into a unique camper that caters to the needs of digital nomads. With a redesigned roofline, a new rear structure, and a specially designed tailgate that accommodates a tent, the Roadiaq offers versatility and adventure. Its eye-catching design features a two-tone Emerald Green and Moon White paint scheme with a distinctive pattern running above the window line, complemented by 21″ Supernova alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the Roadiaq boasts a powerful 230-kW dual electric motor setup, delivering an impressive 308 horsepower and 348 ft-lbs of torque. Its 82-kWh Li-ion battery provides a range of over 300 miles per charge. The increased ground clearance and overall height make it suitable for off-road exploration, and its all-wheel drive ensures it can tackle any terrain.
The student’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the materials used for the Škoda Roadiaq‘s interior. Recycled post-consumer content was incorporated into the design, including recycled textile upholstery throughout the cabin. To create a fully functional mobile office, the students collaborated with Škoda’s IT department. The camper features a 27″ monitor with a docking station, a camera, a wireless mouse and keyboard, and wireless speakers.
While the Škoda Roadiaq is a one-of-a-kind concept car that won’t go into production, it represents a growing trend among automakers to explore innovative camper concepts. It’s only a matter of time before these mobile basecamps become a reality. The Škoda Roadiaq demonstrates the creativity and skill of the students at the Škoda Vocational School, who received support from experts in van conversion, camper design, and upholstery.
With its combination of sustainable materials, cutting-edge technology, and versatile design, the Škoda Roadiaq offers a glimpse into the future of camper vehicles. It embodies the spirit of adventure and independence that digital nomads seek, allowing them to work, travel, and relax in style. Click here for more details.
