A decade after discontinuing the production of the 990 SMT model, KTM has introduced an all-new SuperMoto Tourer with the KTM 890 SMT. With the same aesthetic design as the 890 ADV R and 890 Duke R, the bike is built atop KTM‘s existing 890 platforms and is a high-performance road-going all-arounder.
The KTM 890 SMT has a liquid-cooled 889cc LC8c parallel-twin engine that can produce 105hp and 73.75ft-lbs of torque. It also has sport-focused WP APEX units fore and aft, both affording even seven inches of travel. Fitted with Michelin PowerGP tires as standard, the 890 SMT also shares its 17” alloy wheels with the 890 Duke R.
The motorcycle’s rider aids are developed to enhance the riding experience, providing more control in different riding scenarios. ABS, MTC, and specially engineered RIDE MODES allow you to get the most out of your machine when barreling down the motorway or attacking twisty mountain roads.
The KTM 890 SMT also features the latest generation of KTM MTC, which enhances traction by using an advanced 6D Inertial Measurement Unit. It regulates and controls any slip at the rear wheel and prevents uncontrolled lifting of the front wheel, ensuring the best possible acceleration. The 9.3 MP ABS unit provides precise and efficient stopping power with the highest level of safety. The single-piece Supermoto-style seat on the KTM 890 SMT allows freedom of movement while providing maximum grip and comfort.
Available for order now, the 2023 KTM 890 SMT has been priced starting at £12,499 (~ $15,620). However, the 890 SuperMoto Touring won’t be offered in North America, at least not for the 2023 model year, although this may change in the future.
In conclusion, the KTM 890 SMT is an all-around motorcycle with unbeatable tarmac performance and touring capabilities, making it a great option for those who want to experience the best of both worlds. With KTM‘s rider aids and advanced features, it offers riders maximum control, safety, and performance. Click here for more details.
