Developed and manufactured by TJ Russell, this custom Porsche Baja 911 is now up for sale on the Collecting Cars auction site. We love things like this because they’re both cool and raise the bar for cars. This impressive Baja prototype is said to be the ultimate off-road 911. The idea is to pay homage to Porsche‘s off-road racing success in the mid-’80s and to optimize it using today’s technology and engineering.
They’ve extended the wheelbase by three inches and the track by 14 inches in this most capable, versatile, dual-sport air-cooled 911 on the planet. By developing a special front suspension system, they have managed to reduce the overall weight by approximately 400 pounds (181kg). At the same time, the Porsche Baja 911, which has Lexan racing windows, a set of hood-mounted LED rally lights, thick Toyo racing tires, a full roll cage, and huge fenders, is powered by a 3.8-liter engine designed by Rothsport Racing, providing 365 horsepower, 310 ft-lb (420Nm) of torque.
