RS Q e-tron By Audi for Dakar Rally

As early as 2012, Audi made history and became the first car manufacturer to use electric vehicles to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, in the next few years, the fourth ring decisively abandoned the event in favor of Formula E. Facts have proved that Audi has a plan from beginning to end to repeat its immortal Le Mans performance, although this time in the Dakar Rally with RS Q e-tron.

The picture before you is the car Audi will promote: a blend of motorsport-proven technology called “RS Q e-tron”. Under the hood, it is powered by a 671-horsepower electric transmission system with a pair of front and rear motor generators (MGU) extracted from the current FE07 Formula E racing car. However, due to the obvious lack of chargers in the desert, Audi equipped the vehicle with the same 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the RS5 DTM race car. In addition to forming the core part of the energy converter system (together with the third MGU), it can also be used as a range extender for a 50kWh battery. The RS Q e-tron will compete in January next year and will be at the helm of Stéphane Peterhansel, Carlos Sainz, and Mattias Ekström. Watch the video below and click here for more information.
