Automakers like limited editions in black, and BMW is no exception. In the past few years, the German-based manufacturer has launched many sinister special editions, using names such as “Black Fire” or “Dark Shadow” to specify their unique dark paint scheme. Although most of them are reserved for the European or Asian markets, they actually came to the United States.
It’s called the X5 Black Vermilion version, and as expected, it avoids the chrome plating of the standard xDrive40i model in favor of a more low-key aesthetic. Well, kind of. Because even if it is painted with “frozen black metallic” paint, some dimmed LED headlights, and a set of matte “track gray” 22-inch wheels, the shiny red kidney grille cannot be ignored. After all, the only other color comes from a set of M Sport brake calipers, so it is very, uh, different. But BMW did not stop there. In the rest of the SUV, you will find some aggressive M Sport bumpers and wheel arches, an M Sport exhaust system, and some extended Shadowline trim.
