Triton Subs 13000/2 TE (Titanic Explorer)

Since the company was founded in 2007, Triton has been the undisputed leader in industrial and personal submersibles. After the recent launch of the 66-seater submarine and the world’s largest spherical hull submersible, the Florida company now uses 13000/2 TE (or “Titanic Explorer”) to convert its latest record The manned underwater exploration platform was dismantled.

The 13000/2 TE is named after Triton‘s historic dive on the RMS Titanic in 2019 and now represents the deepest acrylic submersible in the world, with a test depth of nearly 2.5 miles (or 13,123′). The 26,455lb TE has a length of 14.6 feet and a span of 9 feet. It is equipped with a pair of retractable gull wings to provide better maneuverability and provides a nearly unlimited range of options for installing cameras or other recording equipment. A similar acrylic shell submarine has been used before for the BBC’s famous documentary series “Blue Planet II”. The ship can accommodate two passengers and up to 500 kg of equipment. It is also equipped with oxygen and carbon dioxide scrubbers, six 20,000 lumens LED lights, and an electric powertrain with four 5.5kW direct-drive thrusters, supplemented by four 5.5kW auxiliary thrusters, and extract energy from the 12-hour battery unit.
