Before the beginning of the ongoing global pandemic, Amazon was already one of the wealthiest, powerful, and influential companies on the planet, with online retailers alone generating more than $280B in revenue in 2019. Since online shopping has reached a record high, Amazon’s stock has grown 85% since the same period last year, and with the company’s ample growth and expansion, it now needs a new US headquarters on the east coast of the United States-plans and renderings which have been revealed.
This huge new headquarters is located in Arlington, Virginia. It is led by the famous construction company NBBJ. It includes a 350-foot-tall building whose architectural design is inspired by the double helix structure, which is why the facility is known as the “The Helix”. In addition to regular office space, the new plan also includes 2.5 acres of publicly accessible land, another 2.8 acres of parks, 20,000 square feet of community space, and a plethora of shops and restaurants. The crux of this concept is that Amazon can provide on-site employees provide “alternative workspace options”, whether working outdoors, on a rooftop pavilion, or in a local cafe. The project is scheduled to start next year in 2022 and will be completed in 2025. Click here for more details about The Helix.
